Who We Are

Friends of Clermont is a not-for-profit organization that supports the work of Clermont State Historic Site, the oldest-surviving estate in the Hudson Valley and home to seven generations of the Livingston Family, the most famous being Chancellor Robert R. Livingston, one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence. Clermont welcomes over 90,000 visitors annually and tours of the historic mansion are available April-December. We are a leading provider of low and zero cost arts, educational, and community programs, including lectures, concerts and other performances, workshops, and more.

What We Do

Friends of Clermont is one of the Hudson Valley's leading providers of school and after school programs, including Harvesting History, which serves well over 1,000 children in Columbia and Greene counties annually. Clermont operates a teaching garden and children age 2-18 are taught about gardening and healthy eating using the site's agricultural history as a backdrop. All of our Harvesting History school/after school programs are provided COMPLETELY free of charge. The Friends of Clermont also provides a free summer concert series featuring the area's best singer/songwriters, low-cost art, gardening, and cooking workshops, lectures, and other low cost performances, including theater and dance.
