Who We Are

We ARE Revolutionary is committed to addressing the underlying causes of adverse childhood experiences, oppression, and violence in our community. Our vision is to foster grassroots liberation by promoting healing and offering political education to families. We aim to empower individuals to stand up for their rights and communities, nurturing a system that values people in policymaking and avoids criminalizing trauma.

What We Do

What We Are Revolutionary Does:

Addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs): We focus on healing the trauma caused by ACEs by providing resources, peer advocacy, and family support. Our goal is to help communities break the cycle of trauma and empower individuals to engage in the political process.

Engaging Families in Political Action: We involve entire families in political advocacy, ensuring that all voices are heard. We create spaces where families can collectively address issues that impact their lives, from mass incarceration to housing insecurity.

Peer Advocacy & Support: We empower individuals directly impacted by systemic issues to become advocates for change. Through peer support and leadership development, we foster a culture of advocacy within the communities we serve.

Global Connectivity & Transnational Organizing: We bridge the gap between communities in the U.S. and the global Black diaspora. By connecting with groups in Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa, we unite in the fight against imperialism, oppression, and displacement.

Youth & Family Development Programs: We provide transformative programs for youth and families focused on personal development, social skills, and healing. Our youth organizers are equipped with the tools to lead campaigns and create change in their communities.

Community Building & Mobilization: We create opportunities for marginalized communities to come together, build solidarity, and advocate for systemic change. Our work in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and expanding to New York City connects local struggles to larger national and international movements.

Healing and Reparative Practices: We incorporate cultural and healing practices to help individuals and families repair the emotional and psychological harm caused by oppression. We believe that healing is a necessary component of social change. Fighting for a Future Based in Equity and Justice: Our ultimate goal is to create a world where all communities, particularly those who have been historically oppressed, are free from systemic harm and able to thrive. We fight for policies that address the root causes of social injustice and create sustainable, equitable solutions.

Challenging Family Policing & Separation: We actively work to dismantle the systems of family policing and the harmful practices of family separation that disproportionately impact Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities. Our focus is on preventing the unjust removal of children from their families by addressing issues in the child welfare system. We believe that families should be supported, not torn apart, and advocate for systems that prioritize healing and reunification rather than punishment.

By organizing and empowering families, youth, and communities, We Are Revolutionary is leading the way toward a future rooted in justice, healing, and solidarity.
