Who We Are
The Schenectady ARC Mission - Schenectady ARC is committed to helping people in the Capital Region enjoy healthy, rewarding lives as members of their community. Schenectady ARC brings staff, families and the community together to encourage dreams and respond to each person's life choices by offering high quality services, resources and supports. The Schenectady ARC Vision - Partnerships create the power for people with developmental disabilities to live, learn, work and play as fulfilled members of society. Parents of youth diagnosed with developmental disabilities found the ARC. The association worked to change the public's ideas about developmental disabilities. Its members educate parents and others, demonstrating that individuals with mental retardation have the ability to succeed in life. The ARC works to ensure that the estimated 7.2 million Americans with intellectual and related developmental disabilities have the services and supports they need to grow, develop, and live in communities across the nation.
What We Do
Schenectady ARC supports individuals with developmental disabilities in numerous ways. Our annual fundraiser is being held from 12-4 on Saturday, October 15th at ViaPort Rotterdam. It is the Electric City Trucks, Taps, Corks and Forks Food Truck Festival. There will be food trucks, kids activities, music (Skeeter Creek) and a corn hole tournament. We need a large number of volunteers to make this a successful event. Volunteer and have fun at the same time!!
