Description

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and we would like to invite students to join us on April 2nd, 2019 at the NYS Capitol to bring awareness to this important work. We would like to offer community service opportunity for students to assist with the event. The event is from 10:30-11:30 and we encourage all attendees to wear blue. Reporting time for volunteers would be at 9:30AM.

WHAT:

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Prevent Child Abuse New York will join state officials and community advocates to announce a major partnership that will make families stronger and communities safer for New York’s children.

WHEN:

Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.

WHERE:

West Capitol Park, State Street, Albany, NY

WHY:

In New York State, 65,000 children are victims of child abuse each year – enough to fill Madison Square Garden three times.

But there are concrete, positive steps that every New Yorker can take--whether or not they are parents--to help make families stronger and communities safer for all children. Learn what you can do to help – and why the pinwheels being held at the event are the national symbol for preventing child abuse.
