Students who attend the Special Olympics/ Unified Sports Basketball Championship Game to cheer on one of the teams, will receive one hour of community service credit. Students who attend the event and also bring a sign cheering on Team Purple or Team White, will receive two hours of service credit.
The Unified Basketball Game is a partnership between UAlbany and Special Olympics NY. Each year, Special Olympics Athletes play on blended teams with UAlbany students, in a variety of sports. On Tuesday, March 11, Unified Sports will be hosting their basketball championship game with two teams (Purple & White), each having a mix of college students and Special Olympics athletes. For many of these athletes, competing in front of a large audience is a truly impactful event. Therefore, we'd love to fill the stands with supportive UAlbany students to help cheer on these exceptional athletes.
To receive credit for attending the program, please plan to arrive at the Broadview Arena main entrance (upper level) at 7:50 p.m. There will be a check in table in the lobby.
