ITECA, UAlbany's Institute for Transformational and Ecosystem-based Climate Adaptation, will be hosting a volunteer event this Friday, October 24th at 11:30 am at Radix Ecological Sustainability Center, a non-profit located in downtown Albany, and we'd love it if you would attend!
Throughout the past year, ITECA has planted 267 trees in downtown Albany, primarily to address urban heat and flooding impacts within disadvantaged communities. Many of these plantings were conducted through the work of the Hudson-Mohawk Climate Corps this summer, comprised of UAlbany's undergraduate students. ITECA will be hosting tree planting events through this fall and into the spring, and as part of that effort, we will be receiving a shipment of trees on Friday, of about 65 trees.
If you are interested in getting involved with us, volunteers are encouraged to join us at Radix, where we will be taking the trees off of the truck, and burying the trees in mulch piles, which helps to maintain moisture levels until we are ready to plant them!
Radix Ecological Sustainability Center is located at 153 Grand St, Albany, NY, 12202. You can find a Google Maps link to their address here.
