At this moment, there are more than 27 million people in the world recruited, entrapped, transported, and exploited. This is human trafficking. This is modern day slavery. Since our establishment on November 14, 2004, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. at the State University of New York at Albany, we have worked steadfastly to raise awareness and funds for Polaris Project, a nonprofit anti-trafficking organization with programs worldwide, by holding workshops and having speaker presentations. In addition, we have created an annual Freedom Run fundraising event. This event aims to bring awareness to the Albany community about human trafficking and in doing so; we hope to inspire people to become empowered to stand with us in the fight against modern day slavery. This event will feature a dodge ball tournament, keynote speakers, strolling, food, raffles, and more.
