Who We Are
The mission of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) is to serve as an advocate and resource for older adults and persons with disabilities who live in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, adult homes, assisted living facilities, and family type homes.
What We Do
We are looking for volunteers to become a Certified Ombudsman to visit nursing homes or other long term care facilities, to empower, educate and advocate for residents regarding their rights, quality of life and quality of care. This is a flexible volunteer position. After completing the NYS Certification training program, a volunteer is assigned to one facility and will be responsible to visit that facility on a weekly basis for a minimum of two hours per week.
