Who We Are

Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York serves 4,877 Girls in grades K-12 with support from 2,912 adult volunteers. We serve members in 15 counties of northeastern New York, from Columbia and Greene Counties up to the Canadian border. We serve Girls across all socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic groups. We provide financial assistance through Girl Grants for Girls from low-income households to participate in Girl Scouting; Girl Grants can cover their membership dues, basic uniform pieces, and program fees. We encourage Girls to “learn while they earn” – learning financial literacy skills as they earn funds to support their Girl Scout experiences. We offer staff-led troops to reach Girls from underserved areas. We operate four Girl Scout camps in East Greenbush, Lake George, Galway and Plattsburgh.

What We Do

Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York builds Girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  Through Girl Scouts, Girls discover their strengths, connect with peers and mentors, and take action to affect their communities, locally and globally. Programs use the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), a research-based approach that creates opportunities for Girls to succeed. It focuses on 5 measurable outcomes based on the developmental needs of Girls in grades K-12. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience provides a framework for Girls to take an active role in their own experiences and successes, embracing Girl-led ideas, incorporating learning by doing and cooperative learning, and helping each Girl be a leader within her family, school, and community. Our comprehensive youth leadership development programs provide opportunities through flexible participation pathways
